Stephen: Woman who learned to read at 39 now a best-selling author

This woman learned to read at 39, and is now a best-selling author.Karen Woods, now 53, left school at 15 when she was pregnant. She took an adult literacy course at age 39, and realized she had a gift for the written word. Now, she’s writing her 27th book.

“I feel I represent all those people who had bad starts in life,” Woods said. “I want to be the inspiration for women who think that because they’ve got kids, they can’t do what they want.”

Woods is also an ambassador for Adult Learning and visits prisons to give inspirational talks.
