Stephen: Youtuber crashes plane for views, sponsorship

Former Olympian and YouTuber Trevor Jacob admitted that he crashed an aircraft in California in order to get more views for a sponsored video. The 29-year-old filmed himself ejecting from the plane and parachuting to the ground, and later told investigators that he did not know the location of the wreckage. However, weeks after the crash, Jacob went to the site to retrieve the wreckage. Jacob agreed to plead guilty for one count of destruction and concealment.

“You operated this flight to purposely cause N29508 to crash,” the Federal Aviation Administration wrote. “You jumped out of while holding a camera attached to a selfie stick and continued to record the aircraft during your descent.” Jacob may have to surrender his pilot license.
