Hugh: Canadian Dog Park Bans Barking With Fines for Violators

A dog park in Montreal is drawing criticism from all over after its decision to ban barking. A sign at the dog park informing visitors that “it is forbidden to let your dog bark, whine, or howl” has made its way around the internet. The clearly ridiculous rule was put in place to limit noise in the neighbourhood, but many are rightly pointing out that it’s only natural for dogs to make noise while playing, which is the entire point of having a dog park in the first place. As of now there is no evidence of anyone actually being slapped with a fine for violating the rule, but the sign does mention that fines range from $500 to $2000 for dog owners who let their pets bark.
