Stephen: Rogues hit the court again on busy weekend for St. John’s teams

Basketball action is back at the Mary Browns Centre, as the Newfoundland Rogues resume play this weekend. The team faces the Raleigh Firebirds on January 2oth and 21st. The Rogues will be playing in The Basketball League this season, after it was announced they would be leaving the American Basketball Association this past September. The team is excited to welcome Ron Artest III to the roster, son of NBA champion Metta Sandiford-Artest.
The Growlers will also return to action this weekend, putting their 5 game winning streak on the line in Worcester versus the Railers. The Growlers have a 4 point lead at the top of the ECHL’s Eastern Conference, with a 25-9-1 record, and sit 3rd in league-wide standings. St. John’s native Zach O’Brien is the ECHL’s points leader with 56 points in 32 games.
