Effective June 15, 2023, the Provincial Government will no longer require stickers affixed to vehicle licence plates.

In a statement, the Province says Motor Registration Division will continue to print and mail official registration documents, albeit without the sticker. Annual vehicle registration fees will still apply.

Through Information Sharing Agreements with Motor Registration, both the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and Royal Canadian Mounted Police have the ability to access real-time data to confirm a vehicle’s registration during traffic stops.

Copies of insurance and registration documents should continue to be kept on hand inside vehicles. Current stickers must remain on the plate and will be valid until their expiry date.

Newfoundland and Labrador is the latest province to discontinue the sticker, following the lead British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.
