Robert: Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers named to the Order of Canada

Governor General Mary Simon has announced 99 new appointments to the Order of Canada. Among the appointees are NHL superstar and Olympic gold medalist Sidney Crosby, actor Eugene Levy, and the trio of Kevin Blackmore, Ray Johnson, and Wayne Chaulk, a.k.a. Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers.

In addition to the musical group, two other Newfoundlanders were named to the Order. Dr. Conor Maguire for his contributions to the medical field, and Prof. Douglas Dunsmore for his work with both provincial and national music programs.
The Order of Canada is the second-highest honour in Canada after the Order of Merit. Appointees to the order are recommended by an advisory board and formally inducted by the Governor General.
