Hugh: Pepsi is Getting Into the Condiment Game

You probably think of Pepsi as something you sip on while you eat a burger, but the company now wants you to start putting it on your food. Pepsi announced today that they are producing ‘Colachup’ – a ketchup-style condiment that is actually infused with the iconic soft drink. According to a company representative, the new creation was developed with the Culinary Institute of America and takes barbecued foods to the next level with “the rich caramel notes and citrusy pop of Pepsi-Cola.” If you’re starting to think Colachup could be a pretty decent idea, you’re certainly not alone, but you won’t be seeing it on store shelves any time soon. The company is launching the product on July 4th at select MLB ballparks in the United States. As of right now, Colachup seems like a one-time-only featured product, but who knows? If reaction is positive, I’m sure Pepsi won’t turn down an opportunity to make money.
