While most would write off an empty bottle on a beach as nothing but trash, Cara Rocks decided to investigate what she found while walking along the shore in her native Norway. Inside, Rocks discovered a letter from a little girl from Newfoundland dated October 3rd, 1988.

The letter was written by Jennifer Lynn Boudreau, a Grade 3 student from Mount Pearl. Once written, Jenifer sealed it inside a bottle and tossed it into the Atlantic Ocean, wondering where it might turn up.

“My name is Jennifer, I am eight years old. I am in grade three at St. Peter’s Primary School,” the letter reads before revealing more about herself.

It concludes with, “Please write back soon.”

Jennifer would have to wait for her response as it would take 35 years for Cara and her boyfriend came across the letter in Norway.

Even though the letter took three and a half decades to reach someone, it took less than an hour on Facebook for Rocks to find the the no-so-little-girl-anymore to notify her that the letter had been received.
