Hugh: McDonald’s Canada Ending “Free Hot Drink” Stickers and Cards
Written by Hugh Campbell on July 5, 2022
If you drink as much McDonald’s coffee as I do, you know your way around one of those reward cards you can cash in after you fill it up with stickers. Well, collect those stickers while you can, because McDonald’s Canada says they’re ending the program. The company announced online recently that they’ll no longer be serving McCafe beverages in the cups with cards and stickers. The change is expected to go into effect this August, but customers will be able to redeem their reward cards until December 31st, 2023. It seems like all rewards programs are now being funneled through the McDonald’s Canada app, where you can get a free hot beverage once you collect enough points. The discontinuation of the old card-and-sticker system does make some sense, since customers could theoretically double-dip on rewards by collecting points on the app and the physical stickers from every hot beverage order. McDonald’s Canada says the stickers cannot be transferred to the app and have no cash value, so use them while you can.
