Stephen: Those who have avoided getting COVID may have genetic mutation

We all seem to know someone who was exposed to COVID but never got sick and now, scientists may have figured out how they did it. Researchers performed a genetic analysis of 1,500 people and found that some have a mutation that allows their immune systems to identify COVID early. Those with the genetic anomaly were eight times less likely to get sick from COVID. About one in 10 people have this gene.

“It’s like having soldiers that are prepared for battle and already know what to look for, and that these are the bad guys,” Professor Jill Hollenback said.
