Schools (full list)
- Due to the forecasted inclement weather and projected visibility, schools in the St. John’s Metro Region will be closed for today, Friday, January 5, 2024. Status updates can be checked at NLSchools.ca.
- Due to adverse weather conditions, Memorial University’s St. John’s, Marine Institute and Signal Hill campuses, including the Childcare Centre, are closed for the day today, Jan. 5, for all faculty, staff and students.
- Schools in the Clarenville area are closed for the day (Clarenville High School, Clarenville Middle School, and Riverside Primary)
- L’école des Grands-Vents will be closed for the day
- Schools in Holyrood, Avondale, Carbonear area, and Placentia are closed all day today
- Schools in the Whitbourne area are closed for the day due to the impending weather
- Schools in the Marystown area are closed for the day due to the impending weather
- Schools in the Bay Roberts area are closed for the day due to the impending weather
- King’s Bridge Montessori Schools is closed for the day
- Keyin College Campuses in St.John’s, Bay Roberts and Marystown will be closed for the day and classes will continue remotely.
- Several closures for CNA campuses today – Bonavista, Burin, Carbonear, Placentia, Ridge Road, Seal Cove & Prince Philip Drive campuses (including the TRO, ATC & PPB buildings) are all closed for the day due to weather conditions. Online classes will continue as scheduled.
Government Offices
- All provincial government offices in the St. John’s metro region will be closed for the day, except for those staff who have been advised to come in to work.
- Due to impending weather, the Law Courts in St. John’s, including Family Justice Services and the Sheriff’s Office, will be closed for the day.
- The Supreme Court in St. John’s (General & Family Divisions) will be closed today, Fri., Jan. 5, 2024, due to inclement weather. The Court will re-open on Mon., Jan. 8, 2024.
- Due to the inclement weather, the PCSP Town hall and facilities will be closed on Friday, January 5. Our staff is actively monitoring the weather, and crews have been dispatched. All waste collection is rescheduled to Monday, January 8.
Daycares
- Due to pending storm- Priceless Treasures Daycare in Paradise will be closed for the day
- BLOOMSBURY Child Care will be CLOSED today due to forecasted snow storm.
- Due to the impending storm, Early Achievers Montessori School will be closed today, Friday, January 5
- All YMCA School Age Child Care and Pre-Kindergarten locations in the Avalon, Burin and Bonavista regions are closed for the day
Other
- All programs of the Vera Perlin Society will be closed today, Friday, January 5, 2025 due to the inclement weather.
- Choices For Youth offices are closed today due to inclement weather, except our 24hr programs & operations. For info about our Social Enterprises, visit their social media pages
- All St. John’s Public Libraries will remain closed today, Friday, January 5th, due to adverse weather conditions. The Digital Library is still available while branches are closed
