The Guinness World Records book is known for verifying and honoring the most astonishing human achievements great and small. But there are some very obscure categories in there, and the UPI news service picked out 10 of the oddest from the Guinness World Records of 2022. Here are a few of their hand-picked record-shattering achievements:

  • Fastest time to construct a complete alphabet from the letters in a can of alphabet soup: Jacob Chandler of Oregon did it in two minutes, 8.6 seconds.
  • Fastest time to eat 10 Carolina Reaper chilies: Gregory Foster of California consumed 10 of the world’s hottest chilies in 33.15 seconds.
  • Farthest distance to blow a pea: David Rush blew a pea for a distance of 84 feet and 11.28 inches. Rush is a serial record breaker: He has earned 250 world record titles.
  • Most drink cans placed on head using air suction: Jamie Keeton, aka “Canhead,” or “Canpa” to his grandchildren, used air suction to stick 10 empty beverage cans to his face and shaved head.
  • Most eggs balanced on the back of the hand: Ibrahim Sadeq of Nasiriyha, Iraq, balanced 18 eggs on the back of his hand, matching a record set by Jack Harris of Britain in May 2020, making the two men co-holders of the record.
