Stephen: Search launched for missing submersible touring Titanic wreckage

A vehicle touring the wreckage of the Titanic that departed from St. John’s has gone missing. The five-person submersible, now the subject of a search by the US Coast Guard, was a part of a tour by Washington-based OceanGate Expeditions bringing people to the wreck of the famed ship located over 600 kilometres away from the southeast coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. The wreckage itself is 3800 metres below the ocean’s surface. The excursion is listed on OceanGate’s website as a seven-night voyage to the Titanic wreckage that costs approximately $330,000 per person and CTV News reports the company has been running the tour since 2021.
