Stephen: Safety network says back middle seat on airplane is the safest

You should consider booking a middle seat at the back of the airplane on your next flight. New research from the Aviation Safety Network shows the back middle seats of an airplane have a 28 percent mortality rate in the event of a crash, the lowest of any other seat location. Researchers analyzed data from 65 plane crashes and determined that middle aisle seats have the highest mortality rate at 44 percent. Seats at the back of the cabin had the second-lowest mortality rate of 32 percent. Luckily, plane crashes are rare—a 2018 study found the chances of dying on a flight are 1 in 2.52 million.
