Hugh: St. John’s Ranks 13th on List of Canada’s Best Small Cities

Resonance Consultancy, a Canadian marketing firm, recently published its list of the best small cities in the country, and St. John’s comes in at number 13. The ranking was determined by looking at factors including weather (where I assume we didn’t score well), attractions (where we actually did), safety, culture, culinary scene, parks, and diversity. The list praised our provincial capital’s downtown core, its picturesque streets, proximity to nature, nightlife, and “rare affordable urban real estate.” St. John’s was the only place in Newfoundland and Labrador to crack the list, and one of only three in Atlantic Canada. To make the list, a city must have a population of under 200,000. Check out the ranking of the 25 best small cities in Canada below.
