Earlier today, royal officials announced that medical professionals had the queen under observation due to concerns about her health and her family were summoned to Balmoral. The past year had seen Elizabeth step back from several public appearances, with Charles taking up those responsibilities instead. However, she did make an appearance at Buckingham Palace to mark her platinum jubilee earlier this year and hosted new UK prime minister Liz Truss at Balmoral on September 6th to swear her in as the new head of government. Elizabeth is predeceased by her late husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who passed on April 9th, 2021, at Windsor Castle.
