Stephen: Paul McCartney says AI is helping to write a “new” Beatles song

Have you ever longed to hear new music from a band or musician that has long since stopped releasing material? That has been the case for millions of Beatles fans, who have had to settle for alternate takes of classic songs and remasters since the band’s last album in 1970, Let It Be. But now, thanks to artificial intelligence, a “new” song from the Fab Four could be on the way, according to Paul McCartney.

In an interview with BBC Radio 4, the Beatles legend revealed that by using AI, a demo of a song sung by John Lennon and captured in the documentary of the band’s last album, has been able to be mixed as one normally would. Still, McCartney admitted that he’s still not totally sure of AI’s use in music, saying it’s somethin “we’re all sort of tackling at the moment and trying to deal with” and that there’s “a good side and a scary side” to it.
