Ring in the holiday season with our annual celebration, Holiday Lights at Bowring Park, presented in partnership with NTV and OZFM! The event will feature local entertainment and free hot chocolate as we officially light up the park for the holiday season on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 5 p.m. at the Bowring Park Duck Pond. Performers include Quote the Raven, Baraka, and Tyler Humby.
Once again this year, we are asking the public to nominate a deserving individual to flip the switch and turn on all the lights. Use the form below to nominate someone.
The St. John’s Lions Club will be serving free hot chocolate – don’t forget to bring a reusable mug! The Community Food Sharing Association will also be onsite, collecting non-perishable food items for the food bank.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled to Saturday, December 14, 2024. The holiday lights will remain on display by January 7, 2025.
This event includes a wheelchair accessible viewing area. Accessible parking is in the parking lot near the Duck Pond, with additional spaces near the Bowring Park Lodge on Waterford Bridge Road.
The duck pond trail is approximately 500 meters of concrete sidewalk and packed gravel with uneven terrain in places. All-terrain wheelchairs may be borrowed on a first come, first serve basis and must be reserved in advance. Call 709-576-6972 or email [email protected] before November 29.
A limited number of noises reducing headphones will be available to borrow at the Bowring Park Lodge, near the duck pond. A photo-ID is required.
American Sign Language (English) interpretation area will be located on the south side of the duck pond, across from the stage. ASL interpretation will be provided compliments of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Visual Language Interpreters (NAVLI).
The City of St. John’s strives to create accessible and inclusive programs and services where possible. To request accommodations, learn more or provide feedback or suggestions, please call 709-576-4450 or email [email protected].
