Stephen: Airline passenger given banana and chopsticks for vegan meal option

An airline passenger requested a vegan meal on his Japan Airlines flight… and received a banana with chopsticks. Business class passenger Kris Chari was flying to Tokyo from Jakarta. Chari claims in a FlyerTalk forum post that an attendant confirmed that he requested the vegan breakfast. He was then given a banana with chopsticks.

He says other airline meals were also bad, “but nothing was quite as insubstantial this.” A Japan Airlines spokesperson confirms that a banana is the current snack for a vegetarian or vegan passenger on that route.
