It’s far from a secret that a trip to the grocery store is going to cost you more than it used to. With inflation and other factors driving up the price of everyday purchases, people are becoming strategic in what they’re buying so they can stay on budget. Even in the past month some foods have gotten noticeably more expensive, but not everything rises equally, so which foods have seen the biggest price bumps recently? Statistics Canada has released their report on what groceries are rising and falling in price, and you can find the list of the foods that saw the biggest month-over-month increases from the end of December to the end of January.
- Tomatoes – 9%
- Fresh or frozen chicken – 9%
- Flour and flour-based mixes – 8%
- Fresh or frozen poultry – 7.9
- Butter – 7%
