Hugh: Newfoundland Growlers Unveil Alternate Jersey With Tribute Logo

If you ask me, the Newfoundland Growlers have always had excellent jerseys. Today, the team unveiled a new alternate jersey they will wear for select games and it’s a fantastic addition to an already great on-ice look. The St. John’s-based ECHL team had been teasing the reveal this week on social media before posting a full look at the new alternates on Friday. The design is a tribute to the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and its mascot Sable Chief. The all-black and gold jerseys feature a new logo of a full-body side tracing of a Newfoundland dog in front of a circular band with the team name inside. The details on the jersey make it even better, with military-style chevrons on the sides, a “Stand on Guard” military stripe shoulder patch, and “Better Than The Best” written on the inside of the neck – a nod to the Royal Newfoundland Regiment’s unofficial motto. The team will wear the new alternate jerseys for the first time on home ice Saturday, February 4th.
