The cast and crew of Come From Away, the Broadway musical about a small Newfoundland town that stepped up when tragedy struck on 9/11, will be marking the event’s anniversary by doing some charity work. The group plans to give back by boxing up meals for food banks and performing for volunteers aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Intrepid. Every single year, they help get out thousands of meals for hungry people across New York City, but this year’s generosity will be bittersweet since it’ll be the last one. After an impressive five-year run on Broadway, the show is set to close on October 2nd. David Hein, who wrote the musical with wife Irene Sankoff, said, “it’s been incredible to see us inspired by the Newfoundlanders and then have this story inspire other people to do even more good.”
