Robert: Provincial government announces new hospital for Metro area

Today Premier Andrew Furey announced a plan to replace St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital with a brand new facility.

Flagged by Minister of Health Tom Osborne and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Elvis Loveless, the Premier noted consultations and planning are ongoing. The site of the new hospital has not been finalized, but the former Grace Hospital location is being considered.

“Our government is committed to increasing access to quality health care by reimagining and improving the delivery of services throughout our province,” said Minister Osbourne. “The construction of a new hospital to replace St. Clare’s Hospital aligns with this commitment and allows for the delivery of health care in a new, modern setting.”

This new project is in addition to the construction of the new adult mental health and addictions hospital, currently under construction at Health Sciences Centre.
