Stephen: Dad tussles with deadliest snake to save daughter

Hero father Jake Coombe saved his daughter from a potentially deadly snake bite. While the child played, Coombe saw the highly venomous brown snake about to lunge at his two-year-old, and pulled her to safety. The snake bit him instead, and Coombe was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, it was a “dry bite”, meaning no venom was released. Brown snakes are responsible for 60% of snake bite deaths in Australia, and the venom has been known to kill small children or pets within minutes.

“Better me than her, that’s for sure,” Coombe said.
