MP Seamus O’Regan leaving cabinet, not seeking re-election

Federal Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan is leaving his cabinet position and is not expected to run in the next federal election, per multiple Liberal sources.

Until the next election, O’Regan will remain as the MP of St. John’s South – Mount Pearl.

O’Regan was first elected to the House of Commons in 2015, and he was re-elected in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections. He was named to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet in 2017.
