Hugh: The 2022 Toy Hall of Fame Inductees

Every year, the Toy Hall of Fame adds a selection of childhood favourites to its ranks and this year, the inductees span a wide range of generations. The 2022 inductees to the Hall are the spinning top, Lite-Brite, and Masters of the Universe figures. The top is almost literally timeless, dating back thousands of years ago and seen across multiple cultures. Hasbro’s Lite-Brite is relatively modern, but still has a history that takes it back to the 60’s and is still inspiring kids to create colourful images. Meanwhile, Masters of the Universe action figures grew in popularity in the 80’s with the He-Man cartoon. One thing they all have in common is their undeniable staying power. These toys beat out nine other finalists that include Settlers of Catan, bingo, Nerf, the piñata, and Phase 10.
