Imagine being excited to go on vacation to a place you’ve never been before. You’ve spent weeks or maybe months planning it out, making all the relevant bookings, and thinking about all the things you’ll see and do. You board a plane and finally arrive at your destination only to find your luggage isn’t where it should be. The feeling must be awful. Unfortunately, that exact scenario happens fairly frequently. According to a new report, nearly one-third of all Canadians have experienced losing their luggage while flying. The study found that Canadians are more likely to lose their luggage (32.1%) than Americans (27.6%) or Australians (24.5%).
Now, there’s a big difference between having your suitcase returned to you a few hours later and never seeing your bags again. Of those who had their luggage lost, 20.1% had it returned in a matter of hours, 57.1% said it took a matter of days, and 16.1% said it was weeks or even months before they saw their luggage returned. Sadly, 6.7% said their bags were lost for good.
