Hugh: More Young People are Stumbling into Accidents Due to Walking While Texting

Young people are more likely to fall as they text while walking, an Australian study found. Researchers had 50 participants text while walking on a tiled floor with one loose tile.

Participants wore safety harnesses so they would not actually fall.

Texters made fewer typos when they were sitting down. The most typos were examined when a participant slipped.

“No two people are the same, and to better prevent accidents from texting while walking, multiple strategies may be needed,” Dr. Matthew Brodie said.
