Hugh: Man Left With $1000 Bill After 6-Year Old Son Places Massive Food Delivery Order

Keep an eye on what apps your kids are using. One Michigan man learned that lesson the hard way after facing a US$1,000 bill from his 6-year old son’s Grubhub order. On Saturday, Keith Stonehouse let his son Mason use his smartphone to play a game before bed. Unfortunately the game Mason chose to play was “order food from one restaurant after another.” Then, one by one, Keith noticed packages of food showing up at his door. Imagine finding an unexplained order of jumbo shrimp show up at your door, followed by chili cheese fries, then shawarma and chicken pita sandwiches. That’s exactly what happened at the Stonehouse’s Detroit-area home. Mason even mixed some salads into the rotation. By the end of the evening, the family was left with a smorgasbord of food and a US$1,000 bill from the app. That AFTER Keith’s bank sent him a fraud alert declining a $439 order from a pizza place. Even Keith can see the humour in what happened, describing the parade to his door like a Saturday Night Live skit before adding, “I don’t find it funny yet, but I can laugh with people a little bit.”
