Pretty much everyone’s social life took a hit, at least temporarily, because of the pandemic. So it’s understandable if you see some people less frequently than you did before, but when you think about your group of friends, how many would you say are “good” friends? If you’re like the average adult, that number is somewhere around ten. A recent survey commissioned by Disney and conducted by OnePoll asked adults about their social circles and also found that the average adult has a childhood pal they’ve known since they were six. In fact, 17 percent of respondents said they’ve had the same best friend for over 30 years. Of course, not every friendship lasts forever for various reasons, with the average friendship lasting 17 years.
When it comes to the things that make someone a good friend, here are the top 5:
- Be a good listener
- Listen to each other’s problems
- Make each other laugh
- Always tell the truth
- Keep each other’s secrets
