Hugh: Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, Alan Doyle Among Those Named to the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador

According to a press release from the provincial government, eight people have been named to the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador. Among those honoured are Chief Medical Officer Dr. Janice Fitzgerald and musician/humanitarian Alan Doyle. Just try to find someone in our province who doesn’t know who those two people are. Also to be inducted are Robert Cormier (French Language and Culture), Dr. Catherine Donovan (health care), Carla Furlong (music and cultural preservation), Joseph Goudie (cultural), Dr. Proton Rahman (health care), and Max Short (public service). The Order of Newfoundland and Labrador is the province’s highest honour and those named above will be celebrated at a ceremony on September 28th.
