Hugh: Canada’s First Four-Day Work Week Experiment Sees 100% Success Rate

How would you feel about a four-day work week? The idea has certainly been gaining a lot of traction in the last few years. After pilot projects abroad brought the idea to life in a variety of different industries, companies in Canada tried adapting to the new schedule for the first time recently. The trial took place between February 2022 and April 2023 for 41 companies – 32 in the United States and 9 in Canada – and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. Companies in various sectors took part in the pilot project, including tech, PR, and marketing. Those companies saw revenue rise 15% over the course of the trial period, while working hours dropped from an average of 38 a week to less than 33. 69% of employees experienced reductions in burnout and 40% said the new schedule made them feel less stressed. The employees rated the four-day work week experience highly, at a 9.1/10 and every one of the companies involved intends to stick to the reduced schedule, giving the project a 100% success rate.
