Hugh: 83% of People Say They Wouldn’t Tell Their Own Family if They Won the Lottery

If you’re like me you’ve never won more than a hundred bucks, but if you’ve ever struck it big, what did you do with it? Perhaps more importantly, who did you tell? It’s probably not a secret that people act differently when money is involved, and a lot of people say they wouldn’t let their family know if they won a jackpot. Specifically, 83% of respondents to a recent survey said they wouldn’t tell anyone about their winnings. On the other side of the coin, 38% of people say that they’d expect a piece of the action if it was over a million bucks. Confusingly, 58% of people said they’d expect to see a share if a co-worker won seven figures.
