There will be a fundraising dinner to support the re-opening and future success of Loon Bay Camp on March 8th at the Lewisporte Kinsmen Centre. Loon Bay Camp has long been a cherished space for Newfoundland’s youth, providing an outdoor environment where they can build confidence, form friendships, and thrive in a supportive, drug-free setting. Amid growing concerns over substance use among young people, community fundraiser Stacy Coish and his team are committed to ensuring the camp remains a safe haven.
“This event is about giving kids a safe and supportive place where they can grow, connect, and stay on the right path,” said Coish, a former camper himself.
The fundraising dinner will feature live music from local favorite Adam Baxter and student musicians, prizes and a Bring Home the Goodies Bag, sponsored by Farr’s Home Hardware, a delicious meal prepared by Chef Stacy Coish, and guest speakers, including former campers sharing the camp’s impact.
The event aims to raise $15,000, and organizers are seeking volunteers and sponsorships to help reach their goal. Tickets range from $30-$50 and are available through participating churches across the Central district or by contacting event organizers. If you are unable to attend, you can still make a donation.
