Details

The Newfound Riders are pleased to announce the 23rd Annual Constable Sam Jeffers Memorial Motorcycle Ride, taking place on September 19, 2026. Each year, riders from across Newfoundland and Labrador gather to honour the memory of Constable Sam Jeffers while supporting the preservation of memorials dedicated to police and peace officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Constable Sam Jeffers, a member of the Newfoundland Constabulary and a native of Freshwater, near Carbonear, was seriously injured while on duty in a motorcycle collision in St. John’s in 1957. He never recovered from those injuries and passed away in 2000.

For more than two decades, Newfound Riders has proudly organized this annual event to remember Constable Jeffers’ service and sacrifice while bringing together riders, community members, police services, first responders, and supporters from across the province.

Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Peace and Police Officers’ Monument, Confederation Building East Parking Lot, with motorcycles departing at 10:00 a.m. under police escort. The ride will travel west via the Trans-Canada Highway to Whitbourne before continuing through Blaketown, Dildo, New Harbour and across the New Harbour Barrens to Constable Jeffers’ Memorial near the Town Hall in Carbonear before riding through his hometown of Freshwater.

Proceeds from the event, along with donations received, will be directed toward the continued maintenance and preservation of police and peace officer memorials through the Newfoundland and Labrador Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Association and the Constable Sam Jeffers Memorial.
