Candlelighters NL Night of Delight

Candlelighters NL is thrilled to announce its biggest fundraising event of the year, Ches’s Night of Delight, taking place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the CLB Armoury. This exciting evening promises a fantastic lineup of delicious food, fabulous live music from The Attic, games of chance, and both a silent and live auction—all in support of families facing childhood cancer right here in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Every year, Candlelighters NL provides vital supports to families navigating the challenges of a childhood cancer diagnosis. Did you know that we maintain a food cupboard at the Janeway, stocked with special treats for pediatric oncology patients and their families? This simple act of kindness is just one small way we can help to fill those cravings during treatment and to brighten their days during challenging times.

Additionally, Candlelighters NL is proud to send 50-60 children to our very own pediatric oncology camp, Camp Delight, each summer. This week-long overnight camp not only offers a safe space for children to connect with peers who understand their journey, but we also take care of all funding, ensuring that every child, their siblings and bereaved siblings can attend without any additional financial burden. We are beyond lucky to have wonderful medical staff from the Janeway in addition to an amazing group of people volunteer their time each summer to attend Camp Delight with all the children.

It’s the generosity of our supporters at events like Ches’s Night of Delight that allows us to continue these vital programs, along with regular family events throughout the year, scholarships for our post-secondary families, and essential financial and emotional support.
