The NL Latin Band presents the ‘Para: Mamá’ (to: mom) event to celebrate Mother’s Day. The event will happen on May 11, 2024, starting at 5 p.m. at the Rock House on George Street. The party will include children’s entertainment such as family games, door prizes, face painting, traditional Latin American cuisine from Soul Azteka Mexican Restaurant and Taqueria (vegetarian option available), and live music by the NL Latin Band.

The NL Latin Band plays Latin American genres such as salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, and more. Their performances are known for their unique blend of traditional Latin rhythms and for putting the audience to dance. Their music director and artistic director, Persio Domínguez, expresses that the ‘Para: Mamá’ event is the band’s way of showing gratitude to the community for the love and support they have received throughout the years. “We know that many families couldn’t come to our events because they were happening at night and were open only for people over 19 years old. ‘Para: Mamá’ is one of many events where we’ll be bringing music and joy to all ages,” says Dominguez.

‘Para: Mamá’ (to: mom) A family event to celebrate Mother’s Day is open to children of all ages, children 5 and under get in free.

Featuring music to soothe, inspire, and unite us in times of rising hatred and fear, let us join our voices in solidarity against anti-trans policies and celebrate the love and resilience of our community. A portion of the proceeds will be shared with Trans Youth NL and Trans Support NL.

When and where?
Friday, May 17 · 7:30pm NDT
Tickets $20 at makingwaves.eventbrite.ca
First Light Centre for Performance and Creativity
