** UPDATE ** Hunting incident in the Goulds results in death, RNC confirm

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Major Crime Unit has confimed there has been a sudden death following a hunting incident involving a firearm.

This morning shortly after 9:30 am, the RNC received a report that a man, who was hunting with another man, had been shot with a firearm. Officers from the RNC’s Operational Patrol Services Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Forensic Identification Services, ROVERS Search and Rescue and air resources from Fire and Emergency Services, responded to a wooded area near Robert E. Howlett Memorial Drive in the Goulds.

The man was pronounced deceased when first responders reached his location.

There have been no charges at this time, but RNC’s Major Crime Unit is continuing their investigation. The identity of the man is being withheld at this time.
