Stephen: The Golden Girls house is up for sale
The southern California residence that started every episode of The Golden Girls in its first season is up for sale, according to UPI, and is listed for $2,999,000. The exterior of the house was used at the end of the opening credits for one season; a replica was made and used for the following seasons. This is the first time the house will be sold since David Noble Barry III and Margaret Carr Barry built the residence in 1955, according to their son, who is the current owner. James Barry says his parents got a fee for the use of the home’s exterior and that the layout of Rose, Dorothy, Blanche and Sophia’s home was based on the house’s actual floor plan. The Golden Girls was set in Miami and aired from 1985 to 1992, lasting 180 episodes.
