Stephen: Sony releasing 40th anniversary “Walkman” that’s actually an android device
Sony plans to release a new version of its classic piece of tech, the Walkman, to celebrate its 40th anniversary, CNN reports. First released in 1979, the portable music player changed the way we listen to music, and the company plans to release a version with a unique cassette tape interface and branding commemorating the anniversary. The Sony NW-A105 Walkman will be an Android device that will feature a S-Master HX digital amplifier, an upscale compressor, and a vinyl processor to add analog character to digital tracks. The player’s battery will have a 26-hour life, and it will also include a USB-C connection. Sony also plans to release a cheaper, stripped down version of the Walkman. Cost and release date have not yet been announced.
