Stephen: Shameless ending after 11th season
Showtime’s long-running comedy Shameless has been picked up for another season, but that season will also be the show’s last, Entertainment Tonight reports. The farewell Season 11 will debut sometime next summer. “The characters of Shameless have brought Showtime viewers more laughs and tears and pure enjoyment than any program in our history,” said Showtime’s Gary Levine. “While we are sad to bid the Gallaghers farewell, we couldn’t be more confident in the ability of showrunner John Wells, his writing team and this great cast to bring our series to its appropriately Shameless conclusion.”
The show stars William H. Macy, Cameron Monaghan, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, Christian Isaiah, Noel Fisher and Kate Miner. The show’s former lead Emmy Rossum left after Season 9. The show has been a huge success for the cable network since its debut in 2011: It’s Showtime’s top comedy, longest-running series and has the youngest-skewing audience of any series. Season 10 currently averages 5.7 million weekly viewers across multiple platforms. The Season 10 finale is set to air on January 26.
