Stephen: RNC release details on CBS shootings

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have taken in to custody the subject connected to shooting events in Conception Bay South (CBS) today.

On Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 10:25 am, RNC patrol officers responded to a report of a male injured by a gunshot at a residence on Uplands Road in CBS. On arrival, officers located the male at the property, learning that a male suspect had fled the area in a vehicle. The male victim was taken to the hospital to seek medical assistance for serious injuries resulting from a gunshot.

At 11:10 am, officers were called to St. Clare’s Hospital after a male had showed up with a gunshot wound. Responding officers determined that the male had sustained the gunshot wound in the Greeleytown Road area of CBS.

At 1:00 pm, RNC patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting on Peachytown Road in CBS. This report remains under investigation.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, the RNC launched a search for 31 year old Matthew FOWLER of CBS in connection with the event. The suspect was believed to be armed, and operating a black Subaru Legacy. The RNC issued an alert to all devices and broadcasts on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador in connection with the armed suspect.

Following investigative operations of the RNC, the suspect vehicle was located in the metro region, and the subject, FOWLER, was taken in to custody on St. Thomas Line in Paradise. The investigation is ongoing, with further updates to be provided as the information becomes confirmed. There is no further public safety concern related to this event.
