Stephen: One coffee can help you multitask better

Drinking just one coffee can make multitasking easier, a new study suggests. Researchers from Brunel University found that participants were faster at a button-pushing test if they drank coffee before taking it. Specifically, those who took the test without drinking coffee beforehand were around 0.68 seconds slower when pressing multiple buttons compared to when they were focusing on just one task, while those who drank a cup of instant black coffee were only 0.54 seconds slower. Study leader, Dr. Andre Szameitat says, “The findings certainly suggest their coffee habit may help them juggle the competing demands of everyday life, including working and everything else. However this is a small study not taking into account people’s levels of sleep deprivation, or whether they were regular coffee drinks, so more research is needed.”
