Stephen: New app aims to translate cat’s meows

Has your cat ever meowed at you and you just wish you could understand it? Well, a new app from a developer for Amazon’s Alexa aims to do just that. MeowTalk comes from Akvelon, who have worked on Alexa voice commands, and features 13 phrases, including “feed me” and “leave me alone”. For now, an AI records your cat and builds a database, with the eventual goal of the technology being integrated into a smart collar that allows translation with voice response. Psychology Today reports that meowing, or yowling as it is sometimes called, is a form of communication that cats do not use for other cats, but was adapted over time as a means of communicating with humans.
