Stephen: Man wins $10 Million lottery after stopping to buy slim jims for his dog
On Monday, New York lottery officials announced that Dale Farrand recently won $10 million on a scratch-off ticket–and he’s got his dog’s odd appetite to thank for the windfall. The 73-year-old Farrand said he stopped at a Cumberland Farms convenience store to pick up some Slim Jims for his dog, Boots. He then haphazardly bought the winning ticket, which he scratched off in his car. He tells the AP that he’ll use the lump-sum payment of $6.7 million (after taxes and withholdings) to pay off his mortgage, make home improvements, and help his children and grandchildren.
