Stephen: Luke Perry, Tim Conway, others left out of Oscars In Memoriam
Luke Perry was one of several departed Hollywood stars to be left out of the Oscars In Memoriam segment last night. Perry and Disney star Cameron Boyce were both trending on Twitter last night after their omission from the retrospective, with one fan tweeting “Oof! Not including Cameron Boyce and Luke Perry was a huge mistake, Academy!” Many other movie-lovers noted that Perry’s omission was particularly egregious, considering he appeared in one of this year’s Best Picture nominees, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Former Carol Burnett Show star Tim Conway was also left out, as was cult film icon Sid Haig, who starred in many of Rob Zombie’s horror films of late, including The Devil’s Rejects and Halloween.
Those who did make the cut for this year’s In Memoriam included Kobe Bryant, Doris Day, Robert Forster, Monty Python’s Terry Jones, Danny Aiello, Diahann Carroll, Peggy Lipton, and Boyz N the Hood director John Singleton. Steven Spielberg introduced the segment and Billie Eilish performed The Beatles’ Yesterday.
