Stephen: Indonesian city looking to curb smart phone addiction with baby chickens
Smartphone addiction is a real thing, and this Indonesian city thinks it has the perfect solution to help kids and teens who may be afflicted by it: baby chicks. Students in the city of Bandung, West Java gave the baby birds to over 2,000 students at 12 elementary and middle schools in hopes that the effort it takes to raise them would keep students off the internet and their phones, UPI reports. Mayor Oded Danial proposed the plan last month, and believes that in addition to limiting phone use, the students would also learn valuable skills and foster a sense of responsibility. Danial sweetened the pot by announcing that the students who raised their chicks into the largest chickens would win additional prizes.
