Stephen: Drive-thru service 20 seconds slower in 2019
Fast food eaters who use drive-through windows are waiting longer to get their orders this year than they did in 2018, according to QSR. In 2019, a customer’s average wait time from speaker to pay window was 255 seconds– 20 seconds slower than last year. Reasons for the slowdown likely include more customers going through the drive-through and more complex menus. Retailers are aiming to slash wait times with mobile apps, tablets and more efficient production lines. Dunkin’, the retailer with the fastest service times, uses a separate drive-through line for those who order ahead using their On-the-Go mobile app.
