Stephen: DJ Khaled suing Billboard after new album debuts at #2
DJ Khaled is reportedly planning to sue after his latest album only debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. According to Page Six, Billboard originally agreed to count Father of Asahd downloads sold as part of an energy drink promotional bundle in the LP’s chart tallies–but the publication later backtracked on that agreement on the grounds that there were “anomalies” in the promo’s sales figures. “When Khaled’s team tried to appeal, Billboard refused to budge,” says a source. The publication’s decision reportedly resulted in more than 100,000 album sales not factoring into Father of Asahd’s chart ranking. On May 30, Tyler, the Creator’s IGOR debuted at #1 with 165,000 albums sold, with Father of Asahd at #2 with 137,000 albums sold.
