Stephen: Creepy or not? Man dresses as clown and gives out candy to children to mark his birthday

On Thursday in Clarksville, Tennessee, a man dressed as a clown was spotted driving up to a bus top and motioning for children to come to his car. Still reeling from what The New York Times refers to as “the “Great Clown Panic of 2016,” this creeped out kids and adults alike, one of whom called the police on the clown. The Clarksville Police Department investigated and revealed on Facebook that the clown wasn’t creepy, but rather a “nice man” in his seventies who “dresses up once a year on his birthday as a clown and hands out candy.” Not everyone was so forgiving, with one commentator writing, “This is 2019. You can’t dress as a clown and pass out candy to random children.”
